We just returned from the newly opened Secrets Mirabel Cancun, and while the resort shows a lot of promise, it’s definitely still in its “growing pains” phase.

Let’s start with the highlights: the food was genuinely impressive, and we especially loved our dinners at El Patio—flavorful, beautifully presented, and exactly the dining experience we hope for at a Secrets property. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, and their hospitality was a bright spot throughout our stay.
Another undeniable highlight is the stunning beach. Wide, soft white sand and that postcard-perfect turquoise water made every walk along the shore feel like a dream. It’s one of the resort’s strongest assets, and a huge part of why we’re excited to return once everything is finished.

That said, several areas of the resort are still under construction, and it showed. There were unfinished spaces throughout, and construction noise—particularly in the lobby and fitness center—was noticeable during daytime hours. Because some key venues aren’t complete, evening entertainment felt very limited. Live music in the lobby was the main draw, and while pleasant, the resort simply doesn’t have a proper venue yet, so the larger “shows” struggled in both quality and atmosphere.

Accessibility is another important consideration. With multiple levels, many staircases, and no elevator providing access to the level where the pools are located, this resort is not ideal for guests with mobility challenges. It’s something to keep in mind when choosing between room categories or if you rely on ramps or lifts to get around comfortably.

As for the accommodations, our room in the original building felt below the typical Secrets brand standard—smaller in layout, with basic bathrooms, and overall not as polished as we expected. We received turn-down service only once, and there was no recognition of my husband’s birthday, even though it had been noted on the reservation. In contrast, the Preferred Club rooms in the new tower look much closer to the quality and design we associate with Secrets: modern, spacious, and thoughtfully upgraded.
Even with the hiccups, we’re still optimistic. The resort’s foundation is strong: great dining, exceptional staff, and a beautiful beachfront setting that will be hard to beat once everything is complete. We’re planning to return in April to see how Secrets Mirabel Cancun feels when all venues are open and the construction is wrapped up.
